RICHMOND - Following Governor Bob McDonnell's call for safety precautions and preparations for the impending hurricane, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will close all Hampton Roads area customer service centers on Saturday, August 27, 2011. The agency is closely monitoring the path of hurricane Irene, currently forecasted to severely affect the eastern portion of Virginia with high winds and heavy rains. If weather warnings or conditions warrant, more DMV locations will be considered for closure.
When offices are closed, customers may continue to conduct business through DMV's website at www.dmvNOW.com, DMV's automated telephone service at 1-888-337-4782 or the mail. For further service, call (804) 497-7100.
