RICHMOND - The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles’ mobile customer service center, called DMV 2 Go, will process child ID cards and all other DMV transactions at the Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Four Mile Walk/Run on Saturday, September 22.
The mobile office will be open for business from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond Brook Road Campus located at 2924 Brook Road, Richmond, VA, 23220. DMV’s mascot Snapdragon will be at the event to help educate children about the importance of buckling their seatbelts and school bus safety.
DMV child ID cards are available for children under age 15. In addition to serving as an identity document, the child’s photograph is stored in DMV’s database. ”If the child becomes missing, DMV can retrieve the image and transmit it to law enforcement anywhere in the United States immediately. No other ID card can provide this service,” said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. ”We are proud to partner with the Children’s Hospital Foundation to provide this opportunity for families in our area at a time and place convenient to them.”
Parents or guardians may apply for ID cards for their children for $10 at this event or at any DMV customer service center. Customers at the event are also welcome to conduct any other DMV business inside DMV 2 Go.
