DMV Aims to Minimize Customer Impacts of Marathon Road Closures
Customers Urged to Plan Ahead, Seek Alternate Routes
RICHMOND- On Saturday, November 10, 2012, the Richmond Marathon will bring road closures to the areas surrounding DMV headquarters at 2300 West Broad Street in Richmond. DMV anticipates some challenges for customers attempting to get to and from the customer service center at that location.
"We expect that the closures of sections of West Broad Street and the Boulevard between 7 and 9 a.m. will be the biggest challenges for our customers," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. "Our Richmond central office is open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., it is going to be very difficult to access our office. We encourage customers to plan ahead and allow extra time to travel to DMV to conduct business on Saturday."
According to marathon organizers, the closures near DMV will be:
- Broad Street eastbound and westbound between 5th Street and North Boulevard, closed from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
- Lombardy Street between Brook Road and Monument Avenue, closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- North Boulevard northbound from Broad Street to Hermitage Road, closed from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
