Vital Record Certificates


The Virginia Vital Records Office is responsible for maintaining and issuing certified copies of vital records (including birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates) for events that occurred in Virginia.

Each state is responsible for maintaining vital records for events that occurred in that state. If you are looking for a birth or death record from another state, you must contact that state's Vital Records Office. A list of contact information for other states is provided for your convenience.
