Business Opportunities:
Computer-Based Driver Improvement Clinic Program
Computer-Based Driver Improvement Clinics are certified by DMV to award up to five safe driving points to individuals age 20 and over who successfully complete an eight-hour state-approved computer-based driver improvement course. An individual may volunteer or be required by DMV or a court to attend a clinic. It is the individual's responsibility to determine if the court accepts a computer-based course. Companies may also have their employees complete a course on safe driving. Students will be required to go to a centralized location for the final test prior to receiving the certificate of completion.
An individual under age 20 must enroll in a clinic that provides classroom instruction. A computer-based clinic will not meet the requirements of a commercial driver improvement clinic.
Currently, DMV certifies five (5) computer-based driver improvement courses.
For more information on establishing a computer-based course, contact the Commercial License Work Center by telephone at (804) 367-7050; fax at (804) 367-2019; or DMVCLU@dmv.state.va.us.
