DMV 2 Go Celebrates Milestone in Goochland County
Event to Celebrate Two-Year Anniversary of Mobile Office Service

RICHMOND - The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles' mobile customer service center, called DMV 2 Go, will return to Goochland offering supplemental services at the DMV Select location. On Thursday, June 6, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., DMV 2 Go will be open for business outside the Goochland DMV Select located at 1800 Sandy Hook Road. The mobile office will be parked in the lower parking lot of the Goochland County Administration building off Route 522. A ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the two-year anniversary of the DMV 2 Go mobile office service at the Goochland DMV Select will be held at 10 a.m. A number of legislators and local leaders are slated to attend.

The handicapped-accessible full service mobile office provides all DMV transactions including applying for and renewing driver's licenses and ID cards. Road and knowledge tests are available, and applicants may get their pictures taken and complete vision screenings. Veterans can also apply for Virginia's veterans ID card.

DMV 2 Go complements services already provided by the Goochland DMV Select operated by Jean Bryant, Commissioner of the Revenue. The 57 DMV Selects throughout the state provide an alternative to visiting a full-service DMV customer service center. DMV Selects are in convenient locations where customers may otherwise have to drive long distances to get to a customer service center.

DMV Selects process a number of transactions including vehicle titles and registrations, license plates, and transcript requests. DMV Selects do not issue driver's licenses, learner's permits or ID cards, and that is where DMV 2 Go comes in.

"For most Goochland residents, the closest full-service DMV is our West Henrico office about 30 minutes away," said DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb. "Our mobile offices supplement the great work DMV Selects are already doing by offering customers driver and ID card transactions on a regular basis in their own backyard, and we are excited to celebrate this partnership."

DMV 2 Go has been providing bi-monthly service at the Goochland DMV Select since March of 2011. The mobile office is scheduled to return to the Goochland Select on August 5, 2013.
